3 of us got us at 4am this morning to try and book seats at Nomiya for my trip with my daughter next month. We didn't even get a chance to click the book button before all seats were full.
Are we doing something wrong? We were trying to click on "book now" but maybe we should have been trying to click on lunch or dinner? The button never became activated for us to click.
We only have 2 more chances so if anyone has any insight on this one, please share! ;D
Merci!
Jo

Jo,
I have no words of wisdom to offer. I do, however, applaud your dedication in trying to get a reservation. Awake in time to get online at 4am is unbelievable!

Thanks, mez! We will keep trying, but we may have to settle for a workshop or tour instead of a meal. No worries, we will still be in Paris (the volcano gods willing!)

Jo, call in a favor from your good buddy the Leib! Maybe he has the inside track I had a question about one of his recipes a few weeks ago, and he emailed me right back--I was surprised!

No, you are doing nothing wrong, I can tell you. I was in front of my computer every morning at 9.55 am sharp (parisian time) [glow=red,2,300]for a month[/glow] to get a reservation for dinner ! It is totally incredible (almost ridiculous). I think it is easier to get a seat for lunch, as most dinners are reserved for private parties organized by the Nomiya's numerous sponsors ! You should try to send them an email, this is what an american friend of mine did, and he got a seat for lunch. But he was traveling solo, so it was probably easier for him. Well, anyway, I wish you good luck ! Anne

Oh, and I forgot ! Check their website from time to time, sometimes they 've got cancellations and they immediately put the seats back on the reservation track ! Anne

Wow, too bad we're not there tomorrow! I saw on Chowhound that someone was offering their reservation because they couldn't get to Paris due to the ashclouds. Maybe it's the same reservation! Thanks guys, we will keep trying and maybe just try for lunch. Jo

So, after looking into it a bit more, we decided to book a Saturday evening workshop at Noyima. Basically, we get a cooking class and we make the same meal as the one served to the diners and we get to eat it. Sounds more casual and it's almost half the price ~ 45 euros instead of 80. Best of all, it's booked and I don't have to worry about getting up at 4am for the next 2 mornings!

Jo, I think this is a brilliant idea !! And I think that if you ask them, they will let you have a quick look at the restaurant and its amazing view (even better when it's dark outside).

I read on a blog that this restaurant is temporary and will be closing down in July - is that correct? Jo, the cooking class sounds like a great compromise. Anne, I just googled the restaurant and I recall your thread about dining there. While I can't remember what you ate, I do recall the view was fantastic.

OMG, I just checked the Nomiya website for fun this morning and there were 10 spaces open for lunch on May 21st!! I was able to snag 2 of those babies so Danielle and I are having lunch there next week, as well as our cooking class on Saturday night! The spots were all taken by the time I finished booking.
It's my 50th birthday on Thursday and the third time cool things have happened around this time in connection with my trips to Paris. 2 years ago, I met Robert Plant the day before my birthday in the Bastille area. Last year, I got an e-mail from Spring on my birthday asking if I still wanted to book a cooking class with Daniel Rose for our upcoming trip and now I've reserved our lunch at the place my daughter really wanted to go to 2 days before my birthday. Happy Birthday to me!
I'm not even usually up at this time, so it was really meant to be. Can't wait for next week...............JO

Does anyone have updated info on this spot? I am trying to book a tour but don't see that July has opened yet. I do see there are openings for July workshops. I am intrigued by this possibility but the people I would be going with are rather picky eaters and I'm not sure the workshop would be the best fit. I'd like to though, at least take a tour. Thanks!

We did end up taking in a workshop at Nomiya last week. We were joined by two ladies from VA and their daughters, as well as two French ladies with their escorts (one son and I believe one paramour, though the gentlemen were almost identical in age - vive le French!), and a solitary gentleman. I later found out through conversation that the gentleman attends classes twice a week, and one of the ladies said it was her 30th visit!! We enjoyed our time, but I don't think I would attend at either of those two frequencies! Our meal was entirely cold. We made (and I do use that term loosely, as we just mostly trimmed) beef "french fries" which we coated in parsley. They were accompanied by vegetables (zucchini, onions, carrots, mushrooms) that were first cooked and then cooler down. A cold sauce was spooned over. Our dessert was a fig and peach sorbet served with the same fruit, stewed. We had some Pinot Noir as our wine. I enjoyed the beef along with the French attendees, but all of the other Americans (including three teenagers who looked to be rather grossed out, truth be told) only picked at it. I admit, the beef was just lightly seered, so it was more than rare. The food might have been less than stellar, but everyone enjoyed themselves and had a nice time speaking and getting to know each other. We were all given aprons as souvenirs of our afternoon. My niece who worked the dessert station and seemed to have more fruit on her than on the plate, received a clean apron from the French gal who had attended 30 times. I'm guessing she won't miss one in her collection.!
