So says a headline in the NYC edition of the free Metro newspaper! "Our need for cute, happiness-inducing desserts has latched on to a new confection" There is now a "mad about Macarons" class at Alain Ducasse's Adour at the St. Regis hotel. For more info call 212-710-2277. Recipe for Ardour's raspberry macaron at www.metro.usThey've been showing up at many fancy NYC events for years and are available at french bakeries...a place called Macaron even opened a couple of years ago..but now I guess the general populace will catch on to what we know!

Thanks for the recipe, Geordy! His technique is interesting--I think I'll try it next time I make them.

Some of us are SUCH lucky people! My dear, dear friend (and slightly older twin brother) Luc sent me a box of macarons made by a pastry chef/friend/neighbor in Ottawa. They're magnificent, especially the orange ones! And they were so beautifully packaged. I can't begin to say how much I appreciate these little moments of beauty in the midst of the crap of daily life! Thank you, mon cher frerot!

Wow! That Luc is such a splendid fellow! (but of course, we knew that)....but how lovely to find a bit of sunshine in a box....just what the doctor ordered. Hope all goes well, Truffaut, with the handling/progression of your apartment situation. What a story about the renters getting out with barely their shirts on their backs (and laptop and wallet...good items to grab btw). Continued best wishes in this trying time, Truffaut.
