I've noticed that some of these streets have been closed on Sundays the past year or so at least, and I'd often wondered what the motorists thought of it.

I'm just guessing they may do at least some of this in the summer, as it seems to me it is planned as a sort of extension of what they already do in summers for the Paris Plage. At least it would seem to a trial in the summer when tourism is heaviest would be the best test. I can see where motorists would have concerns, but my guess is if the businesses find it does well for them it might at least be a summer event.
