www.belleepoqueparis.com/When Megan and I were in Paris in March, we had a great night out at La Belle Epoque 36 rue des Petit champs. in the 2nd. Dinner and cabaret for the promo price of 33 euros each. Much better than the 100 or so Euros for Moulin Rouge or Lido. I have never been to Moulin Rouge or Lido but the reviews on TA are not good and talk about being treated like cattle by indifferent staff. This is a small place with traditional dancing girls, jugglers, a young lady who did amazing things with hula hoops and a wonderful lady compere who led the, mainly French, audience in singing traditional French chansons, Edith Piaf style. All the staff and artistes seemed to want you to enjoy themselves. The food was reasonable, (not haute cuisine) and Megan got a half bottle of champagne to herself thrown in. I wouldn't pay full price but I have just booked another night out for Michael and me in May at the promo price of 33 euro which is still going. Denise Love from england

Hi Denise, I just tried the website to try and do a booking and got this error message: "Security Certificate problems may indicate an attempt to fool you or intercept any data you send to this server". Did you buy your tickets while you were there or online? Thanks, D

No I rang them this time, they speak good English, didn't want payment for a booking for two and gave me a booking number.

Great info, Denise - as always ! You are "Mrs Knows Her Way About Paris" if anyone is.
I think you should post it in TA as well, perhaps in a new thread "Alternatives to Moulin Rouge" (no, I am not joking). Because so many tourists ask about M.R. and I bet at least 75% of them leave the show as bitterly frustrated as I did.
I looked at the video at Belle Époque's web. The cancan is infinitely more festive than the one at M.R. And gorgeous girls with self-uplifting boobs, so there is something for Monsieur to enjoy aussi. BTW, what was the name of that other sing-along place you have been to ??

LOL! do you mean Le Vieux Bellville or something? www.le-vieux-belleville.com/fr/bar-restaurant-musette-le-vieux-belleville.htmlYes with my professional and feminist eye I was heartened to notice that NONE of the dancers had breast enhancements, just as nature intended!! NOOOO silly, not Le Vieux Belleville. Although we rocked the Belleville hill that night, right ??!!! No, I mean the place you have mentioned in your reports here in OPF ?? Located in the 2nd arrondissement ?? Dinner and singing / entertainment ?? For the curious newcomers....... click to see how to rock La Butte de Belleville !!

Gitte and Denise, you guys are having way too much fun, as is everyone else in that place. Our friends would just love it!
What about for our GTG in the fall, too loud or out of the way, or just perfect for the WW of OPF! ;D

Jo, I am sure it would be a perfect venue, actually !!! But we will have to book good time in advance. And preferably on a Friday or Saturday, because then Minelle will be playing her accordeon.

Gitte - fabulous video. How fun! My only concern is - it's so brightly lit in there! If I was going to sing in public, it would have to be much darker than that. ;D I love that song, BTW. I have it on my MP3 music player thingy that I inherited from my teenager when she got a better one. Now if I could just remember to ever listen to it!

It looks like fun. But for those of us who might like to actually talk to and get to know OPFers in person, it should not be the only event. Also some of us are old and actually go to be early--like 10P.M.

Great video, Gitte. It inspired even MOI to go there! Looks like somebody liked you........ ;D ....and nice block on the old boob grab trick! ;D ;D ;D I don't think I'd ever go to a Moulin Rouge show (I think I'd rather stay home and stick needles in my eyes), but that Belle Epoque actually looks like fun. 33E for 50 minutes -- what do you have to lose? I am thinking of doing it in October -- anyone else interested?? Mary

Jo, Keylimejet and others who are tempted by an evening at the Vieux Belleville, here is Gitte's full report of our evening there : www.myparisadventures.dk/10899/8%20May%20Tout%20Va%20Très%20Bien,%20Madame%20La%20Marquise%20! However, as per Gitte's warnings in her report, be aware that the mood definetly depends on the crowd of each evening. I am sure that there are even dull evenings there, we were very lucky with the people present on that specific night.

The whole day sounds so perfect! You guys certainly know how to have fun everywhere you go and I can't wait to meet you all. Le Vieux Belleville is on my list for the fall. I can only hope we have a great crowd like you did, but with enough wine, we can always make our own fun!
Thanks for sharing that link, Anne. I had read it the first time but it was fun to revisit again!
