We've been to Fontain de Mars and Laidback recommended Cinq Mars to us last year, but we never got a chance to go........maybe this year!
Jo (who's realized that she's going back to Paris mostly for the food and wine at this point.........not that there's anything wrong with that! ;D )

Anneparis, thank you !! I have Chez René on my list (recommended our ex-gourmande Lilia) and Fontaine de Mars is a keeper too (incredible bistrot. You'd think it would be packed with tourists wall-to-wall, but not so). Cing-Mars ? Hmmm........ the reviews look OK. www.zagat.com/Verticals/PropertyDetails.aspx?VID=8&R=100774Look, someone at Cityvox actually claims that the famous choc-mousse is served "à discretion" !!!http://www.fra.cityvox.fr/restaurants_paris/cinq-mars_99887/Avis-Lieu That goes on my list pronto - especially now that it appears also to bear Le Cordon Laidback Stamp

Not to be a wet blanket. And, maybe it's that I'm not a huge chocolate fan...but isn't chocolate mousse kind of like creme broulée? Overdone a bit in Paris restaurants? I mean, there are SO many other wonderful desserts... Okay...don't shoot me!! I SAID I WASN'T A HUGE CHOCOLATE FAN!

Can't say that I've ever ordered chocolate mousse at a restaurant (but creme brulée is just about my favorite dessert, so I'm glad it's "overdone"!)...but knowing that THE BEST is just around the corner could change that!

That goes on my list pronto - especially now that it appears also to bear Le Cordon Laidback Stamp N.B....Le Cinq Mars is a retro/modern little bistro which is very popular, requiring reservations most of the time. It is right behind the Musée d'Orsay, an area not suffering from a surfeit of good spots. I wouldn't necessarily make 3 metro/bus changes to go there, but it is nice before or after a visit to commune with the impressionists.

Last week we took the teen to Mama Shelter for a brunch to celebrate her Sweet 16. I took a spoonful from a verrine that I thought was full of chocolate mousse and ended up with a mouthful Nutella. Blechhhhhhh. Great Nutella. Housemade, I believe. But a mouthful. UGHHHhhh....

Happy--- if you look at the list, 4 of the 10 restaus are in the 7th, the bastion of terminally traditional French food. I think you have a point...
