I was going to tell you folks, but got distracted -- the paper on the windows is a soldes thing -- I'm sure it works well to keep the windows in the big stores covered so they can work, but even the tiniest boutique either covers their windows in paper, or dresses their mannequins in plain white teeshirts with "soldes" emblazoned across the chest -- no trousers, no shoes...just a teeshirt.
I think it's to create the impression that they want to sell every last thing in the store on the soldes...right down to the clothes from the mannequins in the windows.

their mannequins in plain white teeshirts with "soldes" emblazoned across the chest -- no trousers, no shoes...just a teeshirt. Reminds me of my time at work. Resurfacing the road on a housing estate, work starts at 7.30 AM, Always someone ignores the warnings and signs and leaves a car parked. Anyway my foreman is going round one morning knocking on doors to find the culprit. Lo and behold! The door is opened by a bright young thing dressed exactly like that. And it was a short teeshirt, he was OK at lunch time
