Hi all!
The last post about salmon made me think of what we had for dinner the other night. A friend of ours went to VA and brought us back some clams. I decided to prepare them in a "French" style, as we had a fabulous Pouilly-Fuisse that our French friend brought us from Paris that I was dying to open. So I sauteed some shallots in tons of butter, added about 1/2 bottle of French vermouth, and dumped in the clams and covered the pot. The alcohol burned off nicely, and when the clams were open I threw in a bunch of parsley and served the clams in a bowl over some crusty French bread...mmmmmmmmm!! It's so easy, and SO good if you are lucky to get some fresh clams or mussels.

;D
Sounds delicious. We will be in Baltimore Sunday on our way to see our grandson in Reisterstown. Planned on having lunch on the way either at John Stevens or M & S Grill. Do you know either or both and which would you suggest?
Thanks.

I can't stand mussels, but my other half loves them. Apparently, I make them really well because he often asks for them. Here's what I do. Lightly saute some diced shallot and lots of garlic in a mix of olive oil and butter just until softened. Add a generous branch of fresh rosemary and a bay leaf. Toss in the mussels, cover the pot and steam until opened. Once opened, add a glassful of white wine, and a little bit of heavy cream to slightly thicken the juices. Bring to a boil quickly, just to heat the liquid. I garnish the mussels with chopped parsley, and then eat my peanut butter and jelly sandwich. There is a restaurant in Batignolles that serves delicious moules poulette. The SO ordered them once, and even I have to say they were fantastic. Here's a link to the restaurant's site. clos-ste-marie.com/

Truffaut, I went past that restaurant last summer on my way to the park, and I was so tempted to sit down for lunch - only I had already bought provisions (in Rue de Levis) to enjoy in the adorable Square des Batignolles. I will pop over and give it a try next month.

Mrs holger - it's quite easy in fact. If you follow andiandgaz's manual here (customized by me, as I have used photobucket only): 1. Go to Photobucket and upload the picture you want to post 2. It will say "browse" at which point you click it and find the picture to upload from your computer ie: mydocuments/pictures 3. Click "upload" and that picture will upload to Photobucket . 4. When the image is uploaded there will be a small list below the image with URL, HTML Tag or IMG codes, If you click over the IMG code a little yellow box pops up and says "copied" 5. You then come to this forum and go to the section you want to place your picture in, you type what you want to say then below it you "right click" your mouse and click on the word "paste" It should then put in the IMG code that you got, ie: (IMG)blahblahblah(IMG) 6. When you then submit your post it should have a picture on it. 7. For Avatars you should choose the URL code and click on that. Then you pop over to OurParis, modify your profile and on that page you can insert the photo. Here is the link for Photobucket photobucket.com/ You will need to register to use the basic services for them both. You may need to resize some pictures if they are too large, I use this site, www.resize2mail.com/This is how you resize your picture. 1. Go to the resize site first before uploading 2. Click the browse button and find the picture you want to insert 3. Decide what shape and size you want to make it and put a dot in that choice. 4. Click "okay" 5. Wait for it to do its job (your picture will then appear on the screen) you simply right click over it and "Save picture as" 6. Save the new resized picture to wherever you keep your pictures on the computer. From here you follow the steps for uploading your picture to Photobucket or Imageshack. Hope this helps, I tried to explain it as easily as possible without too many fancy techno words. If you are having problems send me a message and I will try to help, Good Luck!

Gitte, Honest to God, I lose it around the third sentence when I see something that I percieve as complicated, such as this. I will try to take it 1 sentence at a time and see what I can do. If you should hear a scream, where ever you should be, you know who it is. First, picture hunting!

Susan - Are we still competing for the title of "computer dummy"?

Shoesy I suspect so. Here we are in the recipe section and I have a feeling we're going to get a good hand slapping. All we can do is ask for mercy. I go to the doctor tomorrow and he may write me a script for some kind of long term illness. I don't expect that its going to be getting a lot better! Did you do something spectacular that took you out of the dummy catagory! s

Soo, in the food section we are talking about avatars and dummies. Shoesy, we might not be the smartest people in the world but we've got spirit and we know our mistakes and we are not alone!

I think I'll always be in the "dummy" category.
