I'd like to return to one of the outdoor markets on my upcoming trip. Problem is I can't remember which market it is. I'm thinking it's either Edgar Quinet or Lecourbe, but I'm not sure.
Here's what I remember:
It's open on Saturday Fairly certain it's in the 14th or 15th The nearby metro stop is above ground I bought a gyro-like sandwich from a vendor
Can anyone help me identify the market? I bought some great scarves from a very nice vendor and I want to see if she has any new styles.
Thanks!

Janet, could it be Grenelle? It's on Sunday and Wednesday on Bl. de Grenelle under the above ground metro tracks between Dupleix and La Motte-Piquet metro stops in the 15th. Lecourbe is on Saturday and Wednesday, but I haven't been out to that one so I don't know if the metro runs above ground there or not.

To further add to your confusion. the other Saturday markets are Brancusi, Alesia, Rue Daguerre in the 14th and Lefebvre, and Cervantes.

Neither Quinet, nor Lecourbe is near an elevated metro. Grenelle is elevated metro, and you can buy a gyro on teh street behind the market (but not in the market itself).

Thanks for the responses. Grenelle fits my description, but that's not it. I asked her what other markets she goes to, and she mentioned Grenelle.
If I end up figuring it out, I'll post back. If not, I can always visit her at Grenelle on Sunday.
Thanks again.

The nicest scarves to be found at a market or the boul Raspail market in the 6th. Especially the Sunday organic market when a woman comes with hand woven silk scarves that a Moroccan woman designs and her husband weaves. They are gorgeous and luxurious and wear exceptionally well. I remember the price being about 45 euros, which is expensive for a market purchase, but very, very cheap for what she is selling. On fridays there are a few stands there (and maybe Sat, too) that have cashmire scarves from india. Again, not cheap, but lovely quality.

Thanks Phread! I will definitely check out the Raspail market. Those scarves sound terrific.
I went to the library today and took out "Paris in a Basket". I still can't figure out what market I'm thinking of, even after reading the description of all the markets in the 14th and 15th.
Thanks again.

I headed out to the markets yesterday. At Raspail I saw some great things, but I'm not sure I found the woman that Phread referred to. I did find some silk scarves in the 25-45 price range, but they had a tag saying they were made in India. They looked very nice, but I just wasn't sure I found the right thing and at that price I wanted to be sure before I purchased.
I bought a wool scarf from another vendor for 25 euros. Many different colors that will coordinate well with my wardrobe.
Next I headed to Grenelle and found the lady I purchased from last May. She had a few new designs. I bought a Picasso design with many vibrants colors. Then I found one in green and violet that will go perfectly with a jacket I'm wearing to work this week. (This trip is a combination of business & pleasure).
She told me she goes to the President Wilson market on Saturdays, but that location doesn't fit the memory in my head. I'm still confused, but happy with my new purchases.
Thanks for all the help. Heading out to do more shopping today. The Soldes signs in all the windows are just so tempting...

Keep on enjoying those soldes, Janet. I can imagine how tempting they are, especially to a scarf-lover.

No need to go on "soldes" for scarves........ I bought my really fancy "turquoise-avec-silver-threads" in Rue de Rivoli for 2 euros. And no one dared wink an eye at Plaza Athenée. LOL........ ;D ;D
