Just got back from a week in a Perfectly Paris apartment with a friend. The experience was awesome! www.perfectlyparis.com/Parisian%20Living.htmlGail was a joy to communicate with and made our stay very welcome. Location: We were in the 17th right near the Rue de Levis market. I really liked the residential feel of the area and it was very quiet. We had an easy Metro stop (Villiers) and a Monoprix down the street! Pros: Lots of space Full kitchen with huge fridge and freezer Washing machine Free long distance US/Canada calls as well as other countries Free internet (bring own laptop) Separate toilet and bathroom Huge closet with lots of storage space under the bed Shelf full of up-to-date guide books, DVDs, magazines and fiction books. Cons: European 4th floor, US 5th floor...no elevator. We made it just fine but we're in our mid-20s. We went in the winter and the heat had trouble keeping up so it would be a little chilly outside the bedroom. Sofa bed was...a sofa bed. Not the most comfortable ever, but it's a sofa bed in Paris! Can I really complain? No, I think not. Would I stay there again? With someone else, yes. It's too big and pricey for me alone, but perfect for couples. I also noticed in the guest book there were several families with small children who stayed there and enjoyed it. My last day, for the first time, I looked left instead of right when crossing the street and saw this...awesome.

Nice view you had when looking left. The apt. definitely has more pros than cons, and I'm glad it worked out well for you. Just wondering what your definition of "a little chilly" is.

:)Great to have another well balanced apartment review on our list.
I really like the Rue de Levis area and would like to stay there sometime.
I am using Perfectly Paris agency in May so it's good to know Gail was a joy to deal with. You are not the first person to say this.

Gail is a darling: the sweetest, most helpful girl you'll ever meet. I love her. Only I find her prices to be a bit up. Then again, you get value for money, re. the excellent, attentive service.

Dealing with Gail and Preston is remarkably excellent. They are responsive and concerned with making sure everything is as smooth as possible for those who rent through them. I recommend them to all my friends from here who ask.

Rachel -
I am particularly glad to hear your good report. I have let this apartment for four weeks this summer, on the advise of janetnj.
Have done a tour of the neighborhood on Google maps and it looks very well situated. Any boulangeries or patisseries nearby to mention?

This was the apartment I stayed in last April. I really liked it and the neighborhood was great. I definitely agree with the pros you mentioned. I actually considered the 4th floor location to be a pro. I figured climbing all those stairs let me eat as many pains raisins as I wanted. One consideration for light sleepers is that the bedroom window faces the street and the window isn't double paned. I woke up as the garbage truck passed on several mornings. Thanks for posting this. It brought back nice memories from my trip.

Kath: Rue de LĂ©vis is only about 150 meters away, i.e. you will have ALL the calories you want within reach - in abundance ! Let me put it this way: you will be in constant need of Kleenex'es to wipe off the drool that will be running nonstop from the corners of your mouth...... 4th floor ? Hmmm..... I guess one could do the climbing once per day and survive, BUT it's carrying up the megaton suitcase + the cabin trolley loaded with books and laptop, that I simply can't imagine doing ??

Katharine: How fun! I think you'll have a lovely time! Gitte's right. The Rue de Levis has many little shops to explore...many of which I didn't get to, but I'll save that for my trip report... As far as boulangeries, I was disappointed in the one nearest the flat. The pain au raisin was doughy, not flaky. I think, too, I was spoiled by the fabulous boulangerie two steps away from my last flat in the 10th. We ended up getting our pastries at Paul's instead, but there were three more shops we never got to try! With the 4th floor, I didn't mind it except for the day we came and I had to haul my luggage up the stairs and the day we left when I had to gingerly lower my now champagne and chocolate laden luggage down the steps(they are spiral) without waking the neighbors. Four weeks in Paris...sigh...some day...

Gitte - I am really not to concerned about the daily stairs climb. I cover a lot of stairs at school every day and am in half-way decent shape. I am hoping that the higher the floor the better the view (or at east the lower the street traffic noise). I may be sorry in the end, but I am willing to give it a go.
I have "strolled" down rue de Levis virtually and can't wait to actually get there. Glad to know it is really closer than i thought. So I am thinking that the stairs will be needed to burn off the calories consumed on rue de Levis!
Can't wait!!! ;D
