Stopover Advice Please

We are heading from CDG in rental car going to Vergoncey. Distance is about 350km and husband would prefer to stop after a maximum of an hour drive. We don't want to stay at an airport hotel but want someplace quiet, charming, comfortable with a place to safely park car with some luggage in boot. That way we could have a walk about, an early meal and a good night's sleep before driving on. Are there places between Versailles and Chartre that anyone could suggest? We would drive on the next morning after breakfast at a leisurely pace as our check in is at 3 so we could also have a nice lunch, etc.

We have used Auberge du Chateau in Dampiere-en-Yvelines for our decompression stopover when heading eastward after a long flight several times www.latabledesblot.com . The rooms are very clean and simple and the owners are charming. There is wi-fi in the reception and depending on which room you are in you may be able to access it. BUT our favorite part of the place is the restaurant!!!! You do have to call to make the reservation as they do not have an email posted on their website---there is just a form to fill in and at the top of it , it tells you to call to confirm. It is in a very small village that has a nice chateau that you can visit. I'm not sure of your dates but the hotel and restaurant are closed on Sunday evening, Monday& Tuesday. You must be able to maneuver stairs as there is no elevator to the rooms. Another choice for a stopover may be Rambouillet. We have not stayed there but enjoyed our visit to the town.

Thanks. Unfortunately we would need the hotel for the night of September 20th which is a Monday night so it would be closed. Will google Rambouillet and see what is there. Husband does not want to drive more than an hour from CDG. We would rather not stay at the airport but will see what else we can find.

Not sure which Vergoncey you are headed to but I think your route might lead you to Fleury en Biere. We've not stayed there but it does have several choice for meals, hotels and there is a chateau

The Vergoncey near Mont St. Michel. We are staying nearby at Chateau Bouceel. But husband does not want to drive that far while jet lagged. Will check out website you provided.
