Just rented this wonderful, sentimental and entertaining movie which the NY Times bashed earlier this year. We loved it so much. It's about a Parisian music hall falling into the hands of organized crime and the devoted entertainers and backstage folks trying to save it. Yes, corny. But really good characters - acting - music - a little modern French "history" thrown in. Bad villains, terrific though unlikely heroes. Highly recommend it.

The young woman is a real find and stood out for the critics, too, but strangely enough I haven't seen her in anything else since then.
