I have tickets to The Nutcracker at the Opera Bastille next week. Can someone tell me what the dress code would be? Are jackets for men obligatory? I'm wondering if it's a dressier crowd for the holiday season. Thanks!

I went the year before last on New Year's Eve . It was a 7:30, and they had free canapes and delectable desserts at the interval as well as Champagne! The dress? Seemed to me it was pretty much like such events here and there at any time of year..some folks dressed to the nines others..not. Probably depends on what they were doing before/afterward...fancy dinner or back home or stand outside somewhere! Everything from formal to sweaters, even jeans! Jackets definitely not required..... I'd say gear to your own plans and comfort level....is it raining?, is it a "big night out..I want to wear my fancy duds'? Though I was actually disappointed with some of the casual wear.. esp. since it was NYE! :oI always dress festive for the Nutcracker and think all little girls should be in pretty holiday velvet dresses..unless it is really freezing or a snow storm..but that's just me!

Thanks very much! My husband doesn't mind wearing a jacket, but I'm hoping to go with just carry on, and if I can eliminate the jacket it would be SO much easier!! Free canapes and champagne, I'm keeping fingers crossed that they might have those on our night, too!

A performance of The Nutcracker in Paris ? (sigh) I can't imagine a better holiday treat than that.

Yes, we're definitely looking forward to it...along with seeing the fab holiday windows, drinking lots of hot chocolate, and ringing in 2010 in the City of Lights (with lots of champagne, of course!)

Ringing in 2008 in Paris with my S/O was truly magical....and 2008 turned out to be a much better year than several preceding it! Yes there is magic in that air! Looking forward to it again! 9 sleeps!
