Maybe not "elegant" exactly, but I did see some quite fashionably dressed people in your pics, Kerouac! I think they look better-dressed in their coats than they did in your last round of shots taken in the summer. But I follow your line of thought about the "typical" Paris dweller (I'm not trying to argue with you! ) Thanks for taking the time to post this--I do enjoy seeing what people wear, regardless of whether or not I'm interested in emulating them! LOL

I agree with Annette. The winter attire looks a lot nicer than their summer attire, which looked kinda sloppy in many cases. Even though I dislike cold weather, there's something very chic about winter coats and boots. (BTW, boots are my favorite kind of footwear. )

I can't say everyone I saw on my first trip to Paris was chic, I will say after about a day and a half in my cute plaid keds and red hooded raincoat, I was happy to pick up a pair of dressier dark shoes and a wool wrap such as I saw a lot of the Parisiennes wearing. The keds and raincoat were quite fashionable in Dallas at that time, it was a year before the square toed wedgie mid-heels I got in Paris were all the rage here. I always assumed the less chic were tourists and foreigners like me. Granted into this, I stayed in the 20th and rode the subway early each morning with a bunch of people heading in to work. Naturally, they'd be at their best and most conservative for that.
