My friends and I will be heading to Paris tomorrow from Ireland. We'll be there from Friday night to Monday morning.
Anyway, we'll be staying in Hôtel Clauzel Paris at Rue des Martyrs. Apparently it is 100 meters far from station Notre-Dame-de-Lorette so it's not too bad I guess. We'll be landing in Charles de Gaulle Airport on Monday night so.. what's the best way to get to out hotel? I was looking at the metro map but I got confused >.< Hahah.
Btw, I would love to go shopping in cheap vintage shops, could you guys suggest some? Hehe.

If you are traveling light, the cheapest way (if that's what you're looking for) is to take the RER B from the airport to Gare de Nord and then grab a cab from there. The cab shouldn't be more than 10-15E and the RER is 8E60. Schlepping large pieces of luggage is no fun on the metro though. If you have lots of luggage, or aren't able to carry it up and/or down stairs easily, consider sharing a taxi from the airport. The fare shouldn't be more than 35E or so and, if you split that between all of you, it won't be too bad. Happy travels!

Hey thanks! We don't have heavy luggages so that's a good idea. How long would the traveling take? We'll reach Paris at around 1030pm and were wondering if there would still be anything to do when we settle down. Also, how do we buy a metro pass?
It is suggested that we vist 3rd & 4th & 11th Arrondissements (the Marais/gay quarter) ,Saint Michel ,Tour Eiffel ,Notre Dame ,Champs Elyssees/Arc de Triumph ,Cafe Angelina for macaroons and hot chocolate ,Louvre Museum and if you have enough time: Montmartre (18th Arrondissement) but we only have 2 full days to tour. What should be the most important places to go? Oh, and we're aware that the Eiffel tower could be booked online. How about the rest?

Which airport are you landing at? I just realized that you're coming from Ireland. Are you landing at Orly or CDG?
I'm always assuming that people are talking about CDG...

A taxi from CDG to Montmartre/Pigalle is around 45 euros. You arrive in the evening - so if I were you, I'd spend the money on a taxi. After all, it's such a small expense compared to everything else in Paris. You will love Rue des Martyrs ! Wish I were going soon......... oooh..... wait ....... I AM !!!!!!! ;D ;D "Most important places" to go ? Anywhere around in the 1st through 20th arrondissement. If still in doubt....... buy a guidebook. There is no goldplated "shopping-to-do-list" when it comes to Paris. You're not a troll, by any chance, are you ?

Haha we gotta save whatever money we have though cause we still have one more week here in Ireland after Paris before going back to Singapore. Don't wanna spend the week eating instant noodles only!

So many of you have good luck taking taxis. I have had just the opposite. I don't know where I'm going wrong. Just Last month we took a taxi from the RER B station next to Notre Dame to a hotel near the Cardinal Limone metro stop and the guy demanded 17 Euros and a tip. Since my frined had insisted on the taxi, while I was more than willing and able to walk. I let her deal with him.

Suzanne, I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but for months ahead of my trip I practice and practice saying my destination in flawless French. With ancillary instructions for the neighborhood. For example: In October, I said the street address and then said that it was in the 7th just next to the Ecole Militaire. As I said, I practiced and practiced until I could say it in my sleep. I figured that maybe the taxi drivers won't mess with someone who so obviously knows where she's going. I have no idea if this theory has any merit. It's just the one I'm going with
