Gitte - I adore doll houses, and dolls in general. I have 3 gorgeous poupees that I bought in France a number of years ago. As for the exhibition you posted, you know oh-so well that I have no trip planned before March 7th.

Ha! No insensitive philistine here! I did not read your post regarding the doll house exhibit with cold steely eyes and grim set of mouth...no, indeed not! I love dolls and doll houses! My daughters have largely benefitted from this love...but alas...I can no longer use them as excuses to buy dolls (youngest daughter is 16 years now and...you catch my drift). Really such a lovely exhibit! You were lucky to catch it! Wish I could see it but know that is not to be...sigh. So glad you posted those pix though! Merci!

Cybee...... No, no, this isn't "advertising-an-overlooked-tripreport-with-badly-disguised-hurt-pride"..... I never disguise hurt pride, you wouldn't be in doubt..... ;D ;D Unfortunately I didn't catch that exhibition, as it only started when I had left Paris. The pictures are from the museum website. I just wanted to pass on the tip to the girls who are/will be in Paris this winter. Cuz I iz sotcha gud sport. Dats wai !

Is this museum closing on 7th March 2010? I can't seem to find any info regarding the permanent exhibition. My French is not that good.
I also had it on my list for May.

Denise, sorry - here is the link in English. No, the museum is not closing, only the temporary exhibition. They have a big permanent collection too (I haven't been in there yet, but will certainly do - preferably in the company of other little girls..... www.museedelapoupeeparis.com/info-autre-lien/infoen.html

I was there several years ago when there was a collection of Gene dolls, (grown-up looking dolls that can wear high-heels.) One of the dolls had a tres* chic 3 inch striped hat box with the Eiffel Tower on the lid. As for the regular displays, I found the clothes more interesting than the dolls.
When I was in Windsor in 1998, our tour guide directed those who were interested to a side entrance where we could see the Queen's childhood dollhouse. The miniatures were fascinating. I had a hard time pulling myself away.

There are also lovely doll houses at the Museum of the City of NY for those of you headed this way. BTW the Doll House store featured often in Paris Breakfasts(she buys many of her miniatures to water color there) is right across from my apartment...can't wait for their Holiday windows! Humm have to see if there is anything for Halloween later!
