My friend is going to Paris next week for the first time (lucky girl!) and she asked me if the RER to Versailles is above ground or below like the metro. I assume it's mostly above but since I haven't been to Versailles, I'm just not sure. Does anyone know? They are thinking of doing the bike tour of Versailles and she is hoping the RER will be like a train ride and she will get to see some countryside.
Jo (yes, I'm very jealous, but trying to contain myself and be a good friend!)

Yep, it's above ground Jo. Not a whole lot of "countryside", but a little.

The moment it leaves the Eiffel Tower area, it is above ground.
