For those of us who love browsing the markets of Paris, a new "slow food" market selling prime produce at a different mystery location each month:
Where can you find the juiciest peaches ? The most tender ham ? The freshest basil ? Samuel and Alexandre criss-cross France all year long to honor our taste buds with the best local varieties. They have created a company called Terroirs d'Avenir whose
sole purpose is to promote high quality products originating from small producers. As members of the Slow Food movement, they are fighting to defend biodiversity and most of all, taste : the long gone taste of rare products, as well as the inexplored taste of unusual varieties.
The asparagus served at the Meurice? It's their pick! The strawberries served at the Kitchen Gallery? Their coup de coeur! The trout at the Plaza Athénée? It's them again! Up till now, they only supplied starred Parisian Chefs. But not any more. This year, MyLittleParis' crowd of fine gourmets is about to get lucky : once a month on a Saturday, in a mayfly location which will only be known a few hours ahead, you will be invited to stock up on their selected products.
Starting this Saturday with their end of summer favorite, sun ripened tomatoes: rendez-vous in the Montorgueil neighborhood between 10am and 2pm, in front of Frenchie, a New-York style bistrot. You will be served with your own crate of divine tomatoes, of all shapes, colors and flavors. This could be a shock: have you ever really grasped what a real tomato tastes like? Have a tomato blast at the venue : try them in a bruschetta, at the Frenchie, with a glass of wine. See you on Saturday!
My Little Farmer,
Saturday September 19th, from 10am to 2pm
Rendez-vous at the Frenchie, 5 rue du Nil, 2nd
13€ for a 2kg tomato crate
Please pay in cash or by check
