I am preparing to purchase tickets to Giselle at the Garnier and was interested in some advice about the seating. I have read several different things about the ability to see from some seats and the comfort of some of the seats. I have played with the web site and have some general ideas but don't see a seating chart per se. I was considering the cat 2 price range and wondered if any of you could share your thoughts.
I will be traveling with my mom and want the experience to be fabulous for her. Thank you

We saw Oneguine in May at Garnier. We had tickets in the 3rd balcony (40 euros per). There are 6 seats per box and the best ones are the 2 front ones. There are 3 rows of 2 and rows 2 and 3 may have difficulty seeing everything. My seat was on the right hand side and I could see more than Den who was on the inside wall on the left. The people behind us basically had to stand to see anything. If you can book the first 2 seats in these boxes, I think you could see fine.
Have fun!

On the we site if you click on a season, then hit practical, then seating categories, you will get a color coded seating chart. I've sat in several different locations and agree with Jo about the boxex..the first two seats are the way to go. Of course it also depends on how much you want to spend, how badly you want to g, and what's left. DO NOT sit in the least expensive sections....

Booking opens tomorrow but of course you know that so you can pick and choose. The view-from-your-seat feature is very useful in helping you to decide, which is a good thing because the seating plan is not easy to figure out. Cat.2 should be good, but if you want to splurge for your mom, cat 1 balcon or orchestre will be great. There are also a few matinees, which ought to be slightly cheaper.

Thanks all. I got tickets 65 Euro -2 emes loge de face, the view on the eye icon looks good. I think the #5 and 6 seats may be behind others so I hope they are short I got bumped out of the web site twice and couldn't get two seats that seem to be together at the lower price. I am just happy to see Giselle in Paris. Jo, I found your blog when I was looking at Spring on TA so I read about your experience, thanks again. I think it was your trip report that I found about Garnier that really got me excited.

Yes that sounds like the 3rd row in the box but that means you can move your chairs around as much as you like to get a clearer sight line or even stand for awhile!
And the location should be perfect for wandering the fabulous staircases, salons, getting refreshments at the interval!
ENJOY!!!!
