Hello everyone! I'll be in Paris for the first at the end of July and I wanted to know what's the best time of the day to visit museums in order to avoid crowed hours. We will arrive at 7 pm in Paris and what suggestions do you have about what to visit in our first day (evening). The next day we plan to Visit Ile de la Cite and St-Louis and in the evening maybe Louvre.

Personally I like to get museums done in the morning, as soon as they open. Then you have the rest of the day to dawdle at leisure. And absolutely no museums the first evening !! That is for just strolling around, sucking up the town, getting it into your blood.'

I agree with Gitte, museums in the morning. For the first night I'd have a nice dinner and some wine on a terrasse before heading to the Arc and a view of the city spread out before you as the lights start to come on.
I hope you end up loving Paris as much as we do

I could not more agree with Gittek and Jody. The earlier the better for museums and the first night since the Arc de Triomphe is open until 10:30, you would get a great view of Paris with the Tour Eiffel all bright and sparkly, it will sure leave a great impression.
Do no hesitate to ask any questions we all would like to help you build an itinerary. So as we said in French Bienvenue à bord Ramona (your screen name remind me of Patrick Bruel singing "Ramona, j'ai fait un rêve merveilleux...)

Yet another vote for morning. If you plan on visiting several museums, you may want to look into purchasing a Museum Pass. This will allow you to skip the line waiting to buy tickets and waltz right into the exhibits (a grad feeling, by the way.... ;D)

Right when they open is best. However, the nocturnal hours that some of the museums propose can be very nice as well. The afternoon is to be avoided at all costs.

I tried finding the song you mentioned luckyluc but I couldn't find it on the Internet to listen to it.
As for your suggestion Katharine to buy Museum Pass, I found out that starting from April 2009 teenagers under 26 from EU have free access to almost all the museums. I hope that I wouldn't have to face the waiting line for showing my ID/passport in order to visit the museums. But still Museum Pass will be the best alternative for my boyfriend and I do agree that it saves a lot of time.

The version he mentions by Patrick Bruel is on his album Entre Deux. It's a selection of old songs like Ramona.
