Just wondered what the notation Karma means on this site. I know what Karma means in other contexts but wondered about it here.
Also, of the three sites I now routinely check; TA, Slow Travel and this one, this has the most depth and intellectual interest, both the others have some interesting information and TA has the most traveling newcomers.
But I do miss some of the most well traveled posters like IrishRovr who does not appear to be posting much on any of the sites.
Along with returning to Paris, we will be traveling for the first time to the Loire, Dordogne and Provence on the upcoming trip. Going by car and staying in Amboise, Sarlat and St.Remy as bases for several days each. then a few days in Lyon, again and back to Paris. Is it OK to ask questions about places outside of Paris here?

ABSOLUTELY OKAY to ask non-Paris travel questions here (sorry about the shouting, capl lock malfunction, too lazy to redress). I know Amboise because a favorite museum is there; Clos de Luce, the da Vinci home. There is also a guy who makes an amazing Paella at the Sunday market. Please let us know if you have any specific questions. Cheers! Ph

Hi, Holger and Gitte. "Exalt" is how one gets more karma. "Smite" is how one loses karma. I just love the idea of "smite", and so wish they had that on the other site!! Additional stars come with more postings. I believe 50 postings is current the threshold for another star. I've been away all week, but when I get a chance, I'll check into the details.

Truffaut...is that smite the same as in "God will smite you..."?? If so, wouldn't it be "smite-ful" if this terrific site took off and the "other" site sort of dwindled away...

I suspect I can guess what warrants "smite" action! (some of the very things that warranted so many great TA posters to come here!). Yes, smite is a good word! (little used, but oh, so powerful!)

OH, I get it now. Good grief. If you like something someone says, you click "exalt" under their name. If you don't like something you click "smite"? Is that right??
Sorry for being clueless!

OK, so now I would like to know, how you get the smileys. If click on a smiley, all I get is these signs (not the yellow picture)
;-)
