I just read that after 2 years of closing for reorganization, the Musée de la Musique in the Parc de la Villette has reopened . On 2,000 square meters, one can find 6,000 instruments . It is organized in four "spaces" each dedicated to one century of Western music (from the 17th till the 20th century) and one double room is dedicated to the musics of the world . There are also many audio and video recordings which allow one to listen to exceptional intruments, and about forty little films which help understanding music with regards to history and society . Luc, I bet that you will hope for a rainy afternoon in May ... Musée de la Musique 221 avenue Jean Jaurès, 19th Métro ligne 5, Porte de Pantin Tues to Sat from 12 till 18 Sun from 10 till 18 Closed on Mondays

I'll put it on our list for next fall. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit there about ten years ago and have been thinking of returning. Jo

Thanks Anne !! I didn't know it had been closed and was planning to visit during my trip in May. So interesting for a musician such as I. It will definitely be on the list of "must dos."

Thank you very much for this information. My husband is a musician so this is one museum I won't have to drag him kicking and screaming into.
