Kia Ora All ( its maori Language week !)
I have my heart set on staying in the St Germain area for 3 nights with Ma and Pa in July. We will be there Thursday, friday, Saturday and Sunday . I am looking for a relativly inexpensive ( (ie not top of the line - but any little budget / mid price gems would be great). I have done quite a bit of hunting around but I am getting so confused so thought that I would ask for any personal reccomendations . The reason I say St Germain is that it is Mums second time to Paris and Dads first so we want to be right in the middle of it and I love that area and know they would too ( And both Mother and Father like their number one born ( me !) do like to be close to shops ( don't kill me I am just being honest) and if after a days sightseeing we could do a quick whizz by Le Bon Marche we would all be happy !)
Cheers
Megan
PS
( Anne - Friday we are going to Strasbourg for the day again to show Dad where he came from ! )

We used to stay at the Hotel Lindbergh on the rue Chomel. It is half a block from the Bon Marche, the Hotel Lutetia, and the rue du Bac. We then moved to an apartment on the very same street and would put up visitors at the Lindbergh regularly, so we've known the place for over a decade. It is a small neighborhood business. Nice decor, very modern and not stuffy chintz. The staff is very friendly and most of their guests are regulars.
It is only a two star, but MUCH nicer than the Hotel Chomel, which is next door and has three stars (We had one affluent guest who refused our reservations and "up-graded" to the Chomel. They moved to the Lindbergh after one night.)
Also, it is IDEAL or public transportation with two major metro lines and over half a dozen buses within 100M of the front door. And an five minute walk to the St Germain cafe scene, and another five to Odeon if you're up for a movie. Okay, now I am going to start to cry. I LOVED my neighborhood. I MISS my neighborhood.

Megan - That hotel looks great, and I love the location. The rue du Bac is one of my favorite shopping streets. I always stop in at a great ittle shoe store not fro from Le Bon Marche and pick up a pair or three of cute flats. There is also a great linen shop further toward the river.
Have fun!!
