but you would never have known it! Last year Sarkozy said that France no longer noticed when the Unions went on strike, which did not please the unions one bit. Today they were all set to show him how very wrong he was (among other things). But guess what? He was right!!! You could hardly tell.
I had a 9am meeting in the Marais, so I set out at 7am, thinking I'd never get a Vel'ib... but the stand was full! So I got on my bike (and froze, temps plummeted last night!), passing EDF cars, La Poste vans and Little Green trucks along the way. Everyone was at work!?! I did see two Parisians walking to work wearing sneakers and carrying their shoes, but beyond that, it seemed that all systems were go. Perhaps slow. But GO.
