Last year we stayed at the Renaissance Place Vendome when we were in Paris in December, which I didn't much like although it's a good location. It could have been any business hotel, anywhere in the world. So, this time, we tried something different: we stayed in Paris on Saturday, 3 January, at the Renaissance Paris Hotel le Parc Trocadero, using Marriott points. www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/parsp-renaissance-paris-hotel-le-parc-trocadero/ It's maybe three blocks from the Trocadero (the street the hotel is on deadends into the Trocadero, and of course also is right opposite the ET). Among other things, this strikes me as a good choice for a short stay in hot weather (all the mod cons such as A/C, and it also has a lovely large garden in an interior courtyard that would be delightful in warm weather). Also, for an additional 50 euros we upgraded from a standard room (which the points got us) to one that was (by Paris standards) pretty roomy and overlooked the courtyard. We did not do much creative dining (having just splurged on a sculpture that "had our name on it"), but there are opportunities in the area (including in the hotel itself, which has an Alain Ducasse resto although it was closed for the holiday period and won't reopen until mid-January). So - all in all, a good use for all the points that build up during ugly corporate travel!

Good to know, Becky. We've got an accumulation of Marriott points just begging to be used!

Good for you, Becky! I'm glad you had nice accommodations and were able to take advantage of the points you had worked so hard for. As for your newly acquired sculpture, do you honestly think you can get away with NOT describing it in detail to your OPF friends? ;D Of course a photo would also suffice

I love doing the points thing. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Place de la Republique in June on points....nothing like four nights in Paris free.. ;D
I, too, would love to see a picture of the "must have" sculpture.
