I was wondering if anyone could offer me more info about this bus tour? I have found websites selling tickets but they vary in extremes. Particularly I'd like to know where and when the route starts and the cost of a ticket.

Thanks Auntie Gitte! I remembered your recommended it but I didn't remember the website! I blame the holiday work overload...I am ready for a vacation...

We did the Parisvision version. It included dinner at The Eiffel tower. I did not enjoy the tour at all. The windows on the bus fogged up and we felt we could have seen things better by walking or taking a boat. The dinner was nice for the view and the wine was plentiful. Food was ok, not great. This tour was given to us as a gift, so since it was free, I really cannot complain too much.

Well, suzanne, either we were very lucky with our tour (which was mid-September) - or you were very unlucky. I think we saw lots and lots of views that you never get from the boats (as they are placed so low on the river) - and even my mom, who adored the Seine boat trips, agreed.

Gitte, that tour sounds great. We will be in Paris first week in June. My concern is how hard/safe is it to get from return point in the 1st, back to our apartment in the 11th at 12.30? Is the metro an option or would it have to be taxi?

In June I would simply walk (if the weather permits) - at least some of the way, there is nothing more romantic than Paris after dark in the warm spring night. And there is nothing to worry about, Parisians are really the nicest, peaceloving people, who mind their own business. Just follow Rue de Rivoli to Place de la Bastille, it's a lovely walk.
Where is your apartment ?
BTW, the tourbus arrives back in Rue de Rivoli at around 22:30, maybe 23:00. And the metros run until 00:30, so no worries, if you want to take the metro.

Thanks Gitte, My maths is off. In June the tour starts at 22:00, so finishes at 23:30. Still before midnight...phew don't have to worry about turning into a pumpkin after all! Our apartment is near Voltaire metro in Rue Petion. Walking sounds great, but unfortunately as I have rheumatoid arthritis, probably not an option for any great distance. Metros safe at that hour? Where I live in Melbourne, I wouldn't think of taking a train at that time. This will be our 3rd trip to Paris in the last couple of years, but we haven't ventured far from home at night. Mainly walks in areas that have more people, and have always felt perfectly safe, but this is a little further out and I have little idea of what to expect. Counting the days though. We will have spent about 4 weeks in France before that. Yay!! Sue

We were there in November and it was raining. The bus driver delivered everyone on our bus to common locations near where they were staying. I though that was very nice of him.
