Explosives Defused At Printemps Haussman

Five packages of explosives have been defused in a department store in Paris,

The Printemps Haussman store was evacuated and cordoned off after police discovered and disposed of the explosives.

The AFP news agency said it had received a letter earlier warning of "several bombs" placed in the store.

It was signed by a group calling itself the Afghan Revolutionary Front, AFP said.

I was just reading about this in the Guardian. I have to read English newspapers to get a true picture of what's going on in the world.

It looks as if this is some idiots idea of a joke.!!
According to the BBC there were no detonators with the sticks of dynamite which were left in the store.
I think people who do this sort of thing should be taken out to Afghanistan and dumped at a really remote spot..

The Printemps has announced that they are now increasing the number of security people both at the entrance and inside the store . All visitors' bags will systematically be searched on entrance . I expect that the Galeries Lafayettes and others will do the same .

I would expect that also Anne. I do remember in the 80's having all the bags checked, a minor inconvenience, but a reminder of the mean world we live in.

I can not imagine how they management of the stores must be taking this.... sales were already at record lows. Our little neighborhood jeweler was shocked and saddened by the news and then reflected that this may be good for his business.
