Not exactly Paris travel, but for me, it is a dream come true.
My friend has invited me for ten days in the Namibian desert. I am over the moon. This place has been hovering at the top of my travel list for ages, and it was HIS idea!!!
Crystaline blue skies, red burning sand dunes, sleeping under the pin-holed sky and observing elephants for hours on end. Yippeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!
I just had to share and it is too early to start worrying friends and family (I was medivac-ed to Europe the last time I "did" Africa). Look for some stunning fotos and a trip report in the new year. S

What a great opportunity for you! When are you going? Bring a lucky charm in your pocket against any more "medi-vac" incidents....you'll be fine

So, you'll go to the Kalahari? It's a BIG Country, with not many people.

Have a great time, just remember that the camels can spit at you from either end !!! I am NOT envious having spent 2½ years on the side of the Great Bitter Lake Egypt so I'm just bitter.

Namibian desert, eh ? OK, let me be the one to speak for the old, conservative and cranky. WHY oh WHY in the name of David Attenborough would anyone ever want to go voluntarily to - and I quote: >>> red burning sand dunes, sleeping under the pin-holed sky and observing elephants for hours on end<<<phreaddie, you know I love you, but you sure are one crazy crackpot.......... ;D ;D

Phread - Like Gitte, I'm not exactly gung-ho about the idea of vacationing in the desert. However, you're apparently thrilled, so that's really all that matters. I'm sure that it'll be quite an experience for YOU, and I'm definitely looking forward to hearing about your unique adventures.
