flying into CDG - arrive 7:30 am - then head to Strasbourg - there is a TVG at 7:30 which I would miss of course and the next is not until 12 or so.
wondering if it would be faster to go to the Gare els (sp) for a regular train to Strasbourg or just wait till 12 for the TVG at cdg
how would one get to the Gare from CDG - thanks

Lakeland - The station that you have in mind is Gare de l'Est .
ALL trains going from Paris to Strasbourg are now TGVs . There is a train leaving from Gare de l'Est to Strasbourg almost every hour, the trip takes about 2 hours 20 mns .

You take the RER B to gare du Nord (ride takes about 30mns) and then you walk (less than 10mns) to gare de l'Est . Or you take a taxi, but of course the cost is not the same ...

Alternatively, you can take the RATP bus number 350 to Gare de l'Est but it takes about 45 minutes. Buses every 25 to 30 minutes from CDG 1, 2A or 2B.

It's relatively easy to walk from Gare du Nord to Gare de l'Est, I guess it really depends on your luggage! You will get to Strasbourg faster by venturing in to Paris rather than waiting at CDG.
I suppose it really depends if you don't mind the hassle!

Grant - you make a good point if worth the hassle to hopefully save a coupleo or hours - CDG is rather boring place to sit but isn't all airports
and too, don't I need confirmed tickets to make sure we have seats on a TVG train? if so we better really know when we would get to Gare l Est.
so right now, I think we will wait for the 12:53 from CDG to Strasbourg - only a short drive south to a B&B to be decided on
thanks all - I really like this site for Paris info!!
