Well, all this talk of the wild women of OPF GTGs made me decide to post about yours truly and Happygoin's Baltimore GTG.
Happygoin flew down from Boston to visit me and my family at the chicken ranch. We had a great time cooking in my kitchen (and drinking copious amounts of sparkly wine and kirs made from FRENCH Cassis). My chicken didn't get done in time (no, not one of OUR chickens but one I bought at the store!)
Happy's risotto was EXCELLENT. AND she brought all kind of baked goodies - brownies and biscotti. My son LOVES her now!
The next day, Happy and I went into Baltimore proper and walked around a neighborhood called Fells Point...we had a delicious lunch at a FRENCH cafe called Bonaparte (yummy slices of quiche) and we bought some pastries for later (MMMM). I drove her around town to see various sites, including the Inner Harbor and Federal Hill. Where did the time go?
Sat night was the big MARYLAND STYLE CRAB FEAST. Happy was such a fast learner - she can now pick a blue crab with the best of us Baltimoreans. Oh my, those crabs were SO GOOD:
(I cut my eye the day before, trying on SUNGLASSES, hence my red eyeball and sunglasses at night. I didn't even buy the offending pair).
I am also wielding a CRAB MALLET, that one uses to bash the crab claws. As Happy said, you can get your yaya's out.
Here's a blurry picture of us and my son's friend, enjoying the crabs:
I admit to having a few beers, and so did hubby, which could explain the blurry shots. But as I told Happy, a true crab feast MUST have beer. We also had Julia Child's Cole Slaw, that we made earlier...yummm. The feast lasted hours, as a good feast should.
The next day we went to Ellicott City MD, a little mill town that's very near my house. We found a fabulous shop called "Mon Ami" (are you getting all of these OP references here?) We bought scarves for Paris. We also visited my mom Vel Reid.
Then, sadly, it was time for Happy to say goodbye to the chickens (she trained them to come when she called chickens!), and to my cat Jasmine, and we were off to drive Happy to the airport for her trip back to Boston.
It was a whirlwind visit and we laughed a lot...a good time was had by all and I hope that she comes back soon... ;D
