One of the most important legacies from Paris in the Middle Ages is COLLÈGE DES BERNARDINS in Rue de Poissy in the 5th arr. It dates all the way back to the 12th century. Normally it has been more or less closed to visitors (?), but next weekend they open the gates after massive renovations. The project has been financed partly by government funds (30%) and partly from the diocese of Paris (35%) and private donations (35%). Here you can see the CALENDAR for the rest of this year. If you love Medieval architecture, as I do, this is certainly a sight which should go in the Top 5 of your must-do's. And as you can see, a not totally unimportant visitor has already put it in his calendar for 12 September !

Gitte -
Thanks so much for the information on the Collège des Bernadins. I wasn't aware of the opening and, as another fan of medieval architecture, would love to see the restoration. The calendar shows occasional muscial concerts as well. Hmmm... something else for our October visit. An exalt for the find is coming your way!

Gitte, I looked at the site you posted and then forgot to come back and say Thanks! It looks like a wonderful place to visit, it's now on my list.
