No market on Place d'Aligre on Mondays, so don't go tomorrow. And note that the covered markethall is closed during lunchhours, 13:00-16:00. Les marchés parisiensWhile you are out in the 12th arr. you might also want to take a stroll on La Proménade Plantée, which is quite close to the market. It is really fascinating to walk in this narrow belt of "park" located on the 3rd floor ! And you get to see the worlds' craziest policestation as a bonus ! Now THAT should be in the guidebooks ! ;D Check out these threads: www.ourparisforum.com/index.cgi?board=news&action=display&thread=648www.ourparisforum.com/index.cgi?board=reports&action=display&thread=900www.ourparisforum.com/index.cgi?board=sites&action=display&thread=590To go to the Aligre market, I would start at Place de la Bastille and then go eastwards along the highly interesting Rue du Faubourg St. Antoine, which is filled with the most pittoresque courtyards on both sides of the street (though mostly on the north side, i.e. lefthand side when coming from Bastille). This area used to be the furniture-makers' street and you can still see some active workshops in some of the courtyards. Just follow Rue du Faubourg St.Antoine untill you come to Rue d'Aligre on the south side. It is about 800 meters from Bastille. And you can't miss the market square.

Thanks Demarais that was exactly what I was hunting for. ;D We enjoyed the market and bought some yummy sausages, olives, breads and fruits, had coffee and people watched - my favourite hobby.
