I emailed them to raise the subject 'Why can't I book a train to Avignon/Aix/Marseille that changes at Lille from your website any more' and they told me to do this I have to phone them. Oh, and pay a £5 surcharge for the pleasure of phoning them.
If you change in Paris, of course, you have to change stations. If you change at Lille, it's just a question of going from one platform to another.
I would really like to know what is going on there.

I have to agree that the Eurostar site is very user unfriendly. It is possible to book direct from ones local station, but some of the fares and timings are ridiculous. I asked them for some clarification and got rubbish back, after trailing through a whole lot of pre-prepared answers. For instance, a gap of about 5 hours to transfer from St Pancras to Liverpool Street, when Ipswich trains run every half hour. OK allow an hour transfer, but thats ridiculous. Next time i go i will book from and to St Pancras and sort my local trains myself, they tell me at Ipswich that I can still buy a ticket allowing travel anytime at a reduced rate, as I have always done in the past.
