While visiting the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art today, I came upon an extensive in depth B&W exhibit of Lee Miller. She came to Paris to be the assistant to Man Ray and her work was woven throughout Paris and France. Worth it if it come your way !
A find for me entitled "Paris Changing" Revisiting Eugene Atget's Paris. Atget's work on the left and Rauschenber's images on the right, taken from the same location, 100 years later.
And finally, all of the material for my book, "The French Landscape: Images of a Special Light", is at my publisher

First, congratulations on your book!!! Re: Lee Miller. She was a facinating and beautiful woman. Like Dora Marr to Picasso, unapprciated for a long time. Julian Levy, the famed gallery owner gave her, her one and pnly solo show. Her son made sure she was not forgotton. Before photography, she was a top model and had an array of famous friends. If you have seen the Cocteau film, Blood of a poet. she plays the statue that comes to life.

I was just thinking about you yesterday Randy! Great news about your book--I bet having it at the publisher is a load lifted from your shoulders! I don't imagine the exhibit you mention will still be there in 9 months when I'm up...

WOW! Sold out??!! Good for you, Randy! Your book has a special place on my coffee table. I make sure it's always on the top of the pile so my friends all look at it when they're visiting.

Thanks Happy ! The first consignment sold out, the second consignment arrived Thursday. I have donated the book to auctions for several non profits and they have sold above list price. Between www.rssilverandlight.com (my website) and Amazon.com I'm hoping to get some good sales. I begin visiting bookstores next week and trying to make a connection with the French Consulate. Take care, Randy

Lee Miller was just on show here in Paris. Very moving. Right now it is Robert Frank. A swiss man who travled extemsively in the US before moving to Paris. He had a great sense of humour.
