Our passports need renewing. Is it ok to take photos with our camera and print them out or do we need to have professional ones? Last time we got them doen at a mail bos place. Thanks.

I don't think it matters, so long as it meets the specifications for size, background color, straight on shot, etc. (I just cropped one of my snapshots - with Andi's kind help - and erased the background color, then had some IT guys at work print it in the right size, but we shall see whether they accept it!)

I called them and was informed of all the requirements. So it seems to be easier to just go over to the mailbox place and get it done. They can also be done at CVS or Walgreen's she said. I was just being lazy this morning and thought I could whip up some passport photos without leaving the house or getting out of my nightgown.
We had a real hassle when we first got passports becaus my husband had been addopted in a state other than the one in which he was born so I hope this renewal process goes smoothly.

I just got my new passport in today's mail (fast, that was only about two weeks ago!), and obviously there was no problem with my home-grown photo (although it came out slightly different color, like I had a sunburn, lol ). So, just do whatever is easier for you.

We had to go to Costco today. They do Passport photos for 5.00 so we got them there and I can mail this off on Monday.

We all need to renew our passports, so thanks for the headsup on Costco. I will call and see if ours does that.

Costco only charges $5.00. I thought that was a good deal. Anyhow, I have mailed them off for renewal. One less thing to stress about.

So right, Suzanne - I finally got mine taken care of (and the new one arrived in record time) because Joe took to saying what a shame it would be to spend Christmas in France without me due to my failure to renew my passport . . . .
