On the TGV, what is the difference between the Freedom and Comfort classes? Freedom = Flexible 2nd class Comfort = Restricted 1st class. Freedom costs more than Comfort by about $67 US. Merci!

My understanding is that the second class "freedom" ticket is more flexible and can be changed (or possibly refunded?), but the first class discounted ticket can't be changed or refunded. But - I could be wrong! I'm sure there will be someone on here who has recent experience.

Bumping this up for myself. Also, can anyone comment on the difference in comfort between 1st class and 2nd? Is it akin to the difference between 1st and 2nd on the Eurostar?

Oui, I am not sure about what you call "Freedom" and "Comfort" .
If "Freedom" is what SNCF calls in French "Loisirs", then this is a ticket that can be exchanged or reimbursed for no fee until the day before departure . Then there is a 10 euros fee for an exchange or reimbursement on departure day .
If "Comfort" is SNCF's "Prem's", then the ticket is neither exchangeable nor reimbursable, which is the reason why it is so cheap . There is a set contingent of Prem's tickets for each train, so if you are interested in it you mustn't wait too long before buying it .
I cannot comment on the difference between 1st and 2nd class since I only traveled once on a TGV so far, as the TGV Est is very recent .
