Yes, thanks Denise. It is so difficult keeping a tab on prices and so much depends on where you buy something, the 19e is a lot different to the 6e.

Thanks for collecting this info - and echoing the comment above, I'm guessing these are from receipts and in some instances (e.g., price of tomatoes) reflect multiples (i.e., not 1,4E for a single beefsteak tomato?). This really is great as a rule of thumb for budgets!

Hi...Sorry, they were fitting a new meter and just arrived and turned off the power, back on now. No they don't turn us off every night.LOL!
Elle...yes I saved all my reciepts, some are missing because we ate FAR more pastries than I've posted but you get the gist.
Yes the beef tomatoes WERE 1.40 euros, but they were delicious and lasted ages.
Also the large macaroons from Eric Kayser WERE 4 euro. I thought it was a really expensive shop. I just popped out for some bread and a couple of cakes and it cost nearly 12 euros! I lost the reciept from Stohrer and only went there once because we didn't like the croissants but I'm sure they were cheaper.
The other boulangerie on Montorguiel (I have forgotten the name) is much cheaper than both of them.

I came across the Angelina receipt for lunch, 4 mini macarons were 6.50 Euros. 4 euros for a macaron sounds really steep.

Thanks for posting. This is very helpful in planning for March. But after starting to get things ready for the UK, I think our sticker shock will be far greater as the dollar is even weaker against the pound than it is against the euro.

Thanks for saving your receipts and posting the prices for our info. The big macarons (individual size) is 3,70 at PH while the minis are 74/kilo. Guess it is pretty much the same price in most of the big name patisseries. I bought a dozen at La Grande Epicerie wich is a little cheaper but do not have the same texture as your Laduree/PH/Gerard Mulot ones. They are expensive but when one is on vacation, one indulges a bit. One reason I am glad I don't live in Paris now, I will be in a poor house eating those Ispahans all the time.................

An exalt to you for keeping such great records. I attempted something similar in May when we were there and gave up after two days.....maybe it's because the exchange was depressing and I didn't want to be reminded all the time.

I agree with you that it can be done quite economically, especially if you can forego the high-end restaurants. I know some on this forum go to Paris to eat and drink, which I think is great. I, however, go just to be there. Where I eat is irrelevant, as long as it is in Paris. As my motto says, "A bad day in Paris beats a good day in Louisville."

:)Dear katherine....We tend only to eat main course in restaurants and bistros. A three course meal would be too much. Of course we don't drink wine and so always got a caraffe d'eau.
We would buy pastries and have them when we got home with a cup of tea, or/and! we would usually call at an ice cream shop. Amarilo (?sp) on rue Montorgiel was our favourite and I think it's a chain all over Paris. It would cost less than 10 euros for two cones with two different flavours. I think it was about eight euros and it was cheaper and more delicious than the Delizfreeze (I think thats the name) at the bottom.
It reminded us of Rome. Licorice is my favorite with banana or lemon.....my mouth waters at the thought!!
When eating in we had simple meals of fish ,chicken, pasta & sauce or cheese & ham omlette with a dressed salad of tomatoes,olives lettuce etc. We usually finished with cheese and bread. and/or pastries.

We also tend to not have three course meals, usually just the main course and dessert, also we don't drink wine when we have sightseeing and stuff to do. Our restaurant receipts (didn't keep any) averaged 80 Euros (for both of us), I remeber Le Florimond was 105, Flottes was 90ish.
