I'm so excited - this film (I'm sure you've all seen it) is on right now on the Sundance Channel. Wow.

Actually, I haven't seen it (or heard about it). How was it?

You will love this! Takes place on a corner of Paris : very ritzy hotel, a high-end art auction house, a concert hall - and the "Bar de Theatres" where everyone crosses paths. A discontented concert pianist and his beautiful wife; an aging art collector whose wife's death has led him to dismantle his collection; a soap opera actress debuting in a Feydeau comedy, trying to land the role of her lifetime in a film about Simone de Beauvoir; assorted other smaller stories; and the character who ties into each one - a young girl recently moved to Paris who gets a job in the bar. Seeing this on cable a couple of months ago made my husband decide that Paris was the only place he wanted to go for our anniversary next year.

This is a great movie, one of my favorites of Paris. I love the scene where the lead actress stands on the roof of the music hall (?) and breathes in Paris.

I love the part where she booked a room at the Plaza Athenee to treat grandmere. She must have spent a whole month's ssalary on that one. I was surprised that they made the Princess Diana Memorial much much larger than it really is! I was thinking that the hero was sitting in a familiar place but looked like a big park and wondering where that is, then I saw the memorial. I just laughed at myself! It was a nice movie - I enjoyed strolling back and forth from the Bar de Theatre to the theatre itself. Very posh quartier!
