In another thread, framing patisserie bags and other Paris-related obsessions were mentioned, so I thought I'd share the serving tray I made with a paper restaurant placemat from one of the touristy places in the Pl. du Tertre. I had to hunt to find the proper sized picture frame, but then just added drawer pulls for handles, rubber feet on the back, and voilà--a useful Paris memento was born: Let's hear what you've done with the miscellany you've brought home from Paris ;D

Annette - How creative you are! Do you use that lovely serving tray to serve breakfast to your gorgeous hubby over the weekends? ;D

Where dya get the cup? It's gorge! Sorry the tray is also gorge, but I am a collector of crockery (considering starting a new dinner service, Giens Oiseau Bleu next week) and never let a pot go by.

Small folding table with Paris and Metro Map then ticket stubs, Eurostar ticket, Versailles ticket (?), museum pass and postcards decoupaged then varnished.
Similar framed for wall.
a 12x12x18 box that I have decoupaged with Paris themed things and then Paris postcards as last layer. I used this for my fan in bedroom
And I've totally lost count of all the Paris themed items I have, clock, tissue holder, hatbox, even a Paris themed necklace (my friend made me for Christmas). Ten Paris/France themed calenders on my workroom wall. LOL only one for 2008.
Airline ticket, Metro Ticket stubs and bookmarks laminated for bookmarks.
BTW many tickets cannot be laminated (with heat). they are printed on thermal paper.
I use the peel apart and stick, then cut to size, I have about five set aside to I've got to seal from last trip.

Penny, those are some fun ideas! I brought home a newspaper that I intended to use for decoupage....I'd forgotten about that--thanks for the reminder.
The "Cafe Paris" mug and saucer I found at Tuesday Morning (a chain store here in the US). I bought 2 of each, and wish I'd have gotten more. They are Bernardaud china (made in France), but I have yet to find them anywhere since.

Annette - more kudos to you! That tray looks lovely (and I bet that you could make a fortune selling them - to finance more trips to Paris? Just a thought ;D) Seriously - just think of the possibilities and all of the various materials...wow! And your photos are lovely as well. If the tray idea doesn't work out, then perhaps you could do food photography for Bon Apetit!

Annette - What a wonderful idea. I may "steal" it and use some of the patisserie bags I brought back in the same way. I am fraoming some of the bags for my kitchen wall, as well. Keep your great ideas coming!
Bravo to you.

OMG Guys, I cannot believe that I love all things arty so much, but have never thought of of doing this. What a wonderful idea. I can just imagine my hubbys face on our upcoming trip, when I try and sneak away place mats and serviettes etc from various restaraunts, should be good for a laugh. I love the bookmark idea too, make nice little souvenirs for friends and family.

Ive seen several cafes here where they have tables with glass tops and put a picture underneath. Usually an advert but wouldnt it be nice to buy the table and put the souvenir of your choice in?
