Hi
Calling all English Forum Members
Has anyone been to Farnham - I am looking at a rental property in Farnham that looks fabulous and was wondering whether anyone had ever visited the town
It is described as a sleepy market village , with a great sense of community. It ticks all the boxes - lovely apartment, close to work and transport to London, excellent rent compared to London and Guildford.
Any thoughts from those that may have visited

I've never been there but so far as I know it's posh. Have you tried having a look on upmystreet.co.uk?

Well, not an English member but I've been to both Guildford and Farnham. I'd be happy in either place. Farnham has some great antiques shopping , which was a main reason we went there. It is also close to a friend's house, so we've driven thru it several times. All of Surrey is lovely and Farnham would be near the top of my list.

;D
Many years ago we rented a house in Abinger Common between Guildford and Dorking and loved the area. Farnham is another lovely community. But this was 30 years ago so some things may have changed.
After having rented apartments in London, it was nice to have a house as we had teenagers at the time. Our daughter loved being able to go horse back riding at a nearby stable.
I would say it would depend on whether you want the excitement of the city. I would also factor in the costs of transportation to and from your work site. But you will likely get to know your neighbors more quickly in a small community.

Hi Megan, Sorry but I can't help you out on this one I have heard of the place but have never been there or known anyone that has. On a slightly different note.......we did meet a couple from Auckland while in Paris, they were on a 10 and a half week world trip, we went to dinner with them and shared a glass or two of wine, we also swapped e-mails. I told them one of our members was from the same place ;D Hi Gordan and Avril......... (they may show up on their return)
