Any ideas? I'll be going on my own so cheap as possible. Whole thing is an attempt to save money: I love eating out but the restos in St Remy are terrible on a girl's pocket esp twice a day.

Ray, that is very good indeed, thanks. Have you a connection there? £250 a week is about the going rate, out of season though would be interested to know what the charge is in June, as it's mid season technically. will contact them and ask. I sent an enquiry to another one today, but I think I recognise the street on this one and it is in the old town. I really want to find somewhere I like for repeat visits: there is so much in the area of St Remy that is great to see.

Have just booked somewhere for last week of June 2009. Yippee.
What do you mean, why NOW? A goil needs something to look forward to.
Now, with two nights in l'Isle sur la Sorgue and possible trip up to Alpes de Haute Provence, that makes . . .

with Gites in popular places, the further ahead you can book, the better off you'll be.
good on you, CC!

Actually I'm a bit worried. The guy sent me the address and I googled it but google.fr maps doesn't know it. I've emailed the tourist office to ask if it exists. Also, oddly, the guy doesn't want a 'caution'. Hm. Anne, I'll get around same as I always do, by bus. See www.infociao.com Or alternatively by train but I'm sure you know and loathe the SNCF website.

I hope everything checks out for you, Chic. This does sound a little fishy. BTW...the Madeleine's turned out great!

Chantal, checking a rental with the Tourist Office is a very good idea indeed . FYI, a "caution" is the check or money that you give to the owner upon entering the place in case you would damage anything and that he must hand you back if you haven't . The money that you pay ahead to secure a booking is called "arrhes" or "avance" . I hadn't thought about the bus . Well, the SNCF website (you mean voyages-sncf.com, right ?) can be fine, only it sometimes works very oddly, like it won't refresh and show you always the same trains while others do exist . Sistereurope experienced such bizarre things too when booking her tickets last week .

It sure takes some patience to navigate the sncf web site! As Anne mentioned, I had a great deal of trouble "seeing" the same train times as she did. I felt really stupid...until I changed my preferences to non-stop, the site didn't show the train that she mentioned. Thankfully I played around with it until I could get what I wanted, but it was certainly odd. I did feel really proud when all was said and done, however!
