Hi everyone. Painting is somewhat a hobby of mine. After my visit last year I painted a beautiful painting of The louvre, I took the photo while there with my daughter, it has the pyramid and the big fountain in the shot, turned out to be a beautiful painting. I'm just curious what catches your eye while in Paris and what have you photographed that you'd like to see hanging somewhere in your house. Very broad question, I know, as it's all beautiful. I'm returning again in September and plan to paint a bit again on my return home with the aid of photos I take while there. I'd love to hear your suggestions.

How very cool---- please show us your painting!!! Take a photo of your painting, upload it, and let us see!!! It would also be fun to see the photo you used.
I've never painted a famous landmark of monument, but I love to paint street scenes. I also take photos when I travel to use for painting.

For instructions on how to post a photo, go to the General Board, then look in the "Forum Technical Questions and Suggestions"section under "How to insert a photo in your posting." Hope you can get it to work!

I would sit on the batobus and take in the beautiful buildings and trees, particularly past marais, they are not a specific landmark but the architecture and the trees, the water and the people just have that 'feel' about them, that I think it would be a wonderful painting.

It might not be first rate, but I love it. The sky was so blue the day we were there last year and it was mid September.

Aah thanks guys, such kind words. I only took painting up about 2 yrs ago as a hobby, but I don't get much time at it as I have four children and I'm kept busy in a noisy home. Painting is such a peaceful hobby though, hard to find peace around here at times. I'm hoping to take more photos in Sept to paint from , that's why I posed the question. Although everything looks good in Paris, does it not?

I'd call it first rate for sure! It's hard to see the details, but it certainly looks like a gorgeous use of color and a great bold style! Thanks so much for sharing it with us -- you must be inspired to paint more after that beautiful result! How wonderful to have a painting that takes you right back to that clear September day in Paris. Now go paint some more!!!

ell69, Your painting is quite good! The fountain and the reflective pyramid are nicely done, but what I like the most is the Louvre/building in the back....so I wonder if just painting a beautiful neighborhood/ or buildings of lovely /unique architect would be a good idea for future painting projects (and of course, there is a plethora of such areas/buildings in Paris)! I do believe you have a very fine talent in painting. What medium did you use?

OMG ! I didn't realize that was a painting when I first saw it earlier !!! Ell - You are super-talented, and soon you won't be painting the Louvre - your masterpieces will appear there. ;D

Thanks everyone, I use acrylics, although I'd love to try oils but they take so long to dry and with kids around the house , I'll just have to wait till theyre older. If I paint more after my next trip I'll be sure to share. So funny shoesy , you're comment made me think of something my 8yr old son said, he said '' most of the good artists never made their money till after they were dead''. I wonder is he thinking about his inheritence, lol!!
