I just checked in at the "other place" because of some of the recent threads here.....they now ask if this post is inappropriate(yes or no) at the bottom of each post! Big Brother indeed!

Interesting. I'm assuming you're NOT talking about the blue "Report Inappropriate Post" link at the bottom right corner of each post? I am not seeing the button you are referring to.

Yes it's a new feature. The funny thing is that they ask "Is this post inappropriate? Yes | No". I understand that someone could want to report if a post is inappropriate, but who would click on "No"?

I was mystified by this thread because yesterday I was seeing only the "normal" link ("report inappropriate post"). I agree, that's truly bizarre - also, they are going to get a lot of "false positives" because basically it's a double negative (i.e., some people are going to click "yes" when they mean it's appropriate, and not realize they actually just "voted" that the post is inappropriate). And what happens if something doesn't get "enough" NO votes (that is, "no, it's not inappropriate")? Does it get deleted because it didn't meet with enough approval? In short, what are these people thinking? (This discussion maybe should be linked to the one about why people like this forum! )

Well, now I'm seeing "normal" links again - seems to depend which computer I'm on! Very strange (on all levels).

Yes I just checked in, on the same computer, and it is back to the blue print"report inappropriate post" Perhaps they got a number of inquiries!
Must say I find it mostly boring there!

I just checked in there and I see the "Is this post inappropriate" message, as well. Hmmm...wonder what that is all about. Another reason this forum is so nice...

Must say I find it mostly boring there! Hmm...I'm not sure if it's because of the weather - and everyone is out and about - but there seem to be many less enquiries and the ones posted are virtual replicas of threads posted only 30mins beforehand...but so long as you apologise apparently it's ok to re-post. Sorry...I'm just in a strange mood. I've been following the TA threads for London, Paris, NYC & Boston and there is little new happening on any of the forums

Is there some reason for not mentioning which site you are talking about?
I take it that it is Trip Advisor with the yes/no for being appropriate?
I post there occasionlly. I post on Fodor's quite regularly. Generally nice people. You get to know who is who and those you have things in common with.
I forget about Trip Advisor, but do have a friend who posts there often. She posts under the name of Underhill. She is a good friend, going back to the old Bonjour Paris forum. I fianlly talked her into this forum..she signed up and then told me that she was blocked every time she tried access. I passed on the info, hoping that she would get access help. She has said that she never heard from anyone. Truly, a loss to this forum......

Wow, that's frustrating - see if she'll give it another try, because I know several people were having trouble for awhile (also seems to sometimes depend on which browser a user has).

I found the London forum much less snippy. No idea why. Thank goodness this forum exists!

Underhill would be a great addition. I hope someone can help her.
