Well, the French royal couple will be landing at 5:30 this afternoon, and they will be spending 3 carefully planned days here. All this is fine and dandy as long as their arrival doesn't interfere with my daughter's arrival from New York about half an hour earlier. Now that I think about it , she was originally supposed to land at about the same hour as Sarkozy, and last week her flight was made 20 minutes earlier. I think I understand the reason now.

Enjoy your daughter's visit - I'm sure the "French royal couple" (good one, LOL) are actually quite boring in person (I mean, all you have to do is look at him to know you wouldn't want to have him sitting across from you on a train!)

Becky - I will definitely enjoy my daughter's visit (her hubby is coming too), as well as that of all my other relatives who will be arriving within the next week. (10 more days until my son's wedding........and no, the Sarkozys are NOT on our guest list !!! ;D)

Wow! Only 10 days till the wedding. It seemed so far away when you first mentioned it.
Thank God it's Sarkozy landing near the time your daughter arrives , and not Bush. He disrupted flights at Heathrow for hours the other day.

Shoesy, I hope you enjoy your daughter's (and SIL's) visit as well as all the hoopla surrounding a wedding in the family. It's nice to have all the family in one place. It happens so rarely when all the kids are grown and on their own. Enjoy it!

Shoesy, have a wonderful few weeks as you celebrate the nuptials with all your family and friends! It's great that your daughter and SIL will be able to be there longer than just a long weekend--I'm sure you miss them and will relish the time spent together. Oh yeah, wave to the Sarkozy's if you pass in the airport--gotta keep friendly relations

ABC News is reporting that an Israeli soldier committed suicide at the airport during the farewell ceremony for Sarkozy and Carla prompting a bit of a panic that an assassination attempt was underway.
According to the report, the French president was whisked quickly on to his plane. His bride panicked and ran up the stairs well ahead of her husband.
