A fellow, Kerouac by name, on Fodor's always posts all the latest info on strikes. He posted this today. If you will be going to Paris during this time, I would suggest that you refer to his Fodor posts. He will keep you up to date..
"It appears that there will be strikes on June 10th and June 17th. This concerns mostly civil servants, so visitors to the country should not be greatly affected on that point.
However, the transportation unions are also calling for a strike starting June 10th, and this one will be "renewable daily" unlike the strike in May which was for just one day.
If you are coming to France soon, keep an eye on the news."

Wow, a transportation strike could certainly wreck havoc with a vacation in Paris. Now I'll be worrying about that--guess Fodor's will be on my "favorite places" list. Thanks for the head's up

Goldenmama,we were in Paris during the last strike and it really was not that bad. The buses were still running on a reduced schedule and some metros were still in service and they were FREE!! Taxis were a bit harder to find though.

That doesn't sound so bad. I had visions of no trains, no metro, and no taxis, and my family driving around town on scooters!

The thing is that you don't know how bad it might be til it happens!
I was there last Oct. with a first timer. I had sent her off on first timer things..d'Orsay only open 1st level..Invalides closed early...we had to cancel our Spring dinner reservation as we were uncertain about getting back. Fortunately we were in the 7th, with so much available to us.
If you plan to be in Paris, just keep in touch with Fodor's as Kerouac keeps everything up to date with all the correct information........

Goldenmama -
If you are within reasonable walking distance of Métro line 14, you will likely be able to use it during strikes because the trains on this line (the newest, most modern one) are driverless. We used it last fall during transportation strikes. Of course, it was crowded, but it's fast and efficient.

I can imagine the Velib bikes would be extremely popular during transport strikes.
