I just wanted to post on behalf of my mom, Vel Reid (aka Luckymama). I was over her house tonight and signed in to the forum...and I couldn't believe my eyes. It listed MY old post entitled "Back from the Depths" as the most recent message...and showed me as being signed in (which was impossible because we were at her house singed in under her name)! It was like we were living in the Our Paris Twilight Zone, it was SO bizarre. So I clicked on most recent post link and I did see Becky's response to Jennifer...but then when I clicked back on the main page it was back to the past...really indescribable.
SO...she said to tell everyone that she really wants to participate more and that she's frustrated...and I can certainly vouch for why she is so. Thankfully she has decided to get a NEW laptop so hopefully she will be able to join us more often. I feel really bad for not understanding her frustration...I am a chastised daughter at the moment!
Oh, and she says Happy Anniversary!

Wow! OPF main page is in need of a major refresh on your Mom/ValReid's computer! Will be great when she gets a new laptop! We all missed both of you in the chatroom during the OPF anniversary glow-in on Saturday! Both you and your mom were mentioned and we wondered where you guys were! So you both were thought of and missed ( There were a lot of us all crowded in the chat room! Wish I had joined in earlier as apparently people were there even earlier than the annointed time!)

Sis - Tell your mom that we truly miss her and understand her frustration. Computers can do strange things. Of course we will wait as long as it's necessary to have our Velreid aka Luckymama with us again. Patience is a virtue, and we vow to be patient.

That is really odd! It will be fun to have her back when she gets her new computer. So tell me, who all did I miss in the chat room yesterday? Sounds like there was a nice group!

:)Dear Luckmama and sistereurope, Strange things have happened to me also, I was unable to log on as grndma and she is still lost in cyberspace! So I created a new account under my real name "Denise" then I found that "Denise" wouln't log off, even though I closed down my computer and rebooted it. I have also once or twice gone into the past. but then quickly gone back to normal. [glow=red,2,300] do do, do do, do, do, (scary music)[/glow]) Hope you are back with us soon Denise love from England

Sister, It might help if she erases her internet browsing history, deletes cookies, etc.
Denise, Did you check to see if the box under your sign-in screen says "Remain logged on forever"? By the way, if you're going to stay Denise, I can transfer your karma rating and posting count (though not the posts themselves) to your new name.

We went through the whole process: clearing out history, temporary internet files and cookies. My sister even "defragged" it, whatever THAT means. Nothing helped. I feel bad, because she'd call me up and say "I posted to the forum and now I can't see my post or anyone's response", and I'd be looking right at it on my screen, thinking "what is wrong with her!?" I think that her grandkids have hosed her computer - I've been bugging her to get a laptop anyway, so better now than later. Still, the experience on the forum was REALLY weird!!!

VelReid has my sympathies. That kind of problem would drive me crazy and make me question my sanity!

Dear Truffaut, I had tried that to no success. I am waiting until I return to work tomorrow to see if I can log on on the work computer, with all that was going on I didn't have the time. I may as well stay as "denise " now. Will grndmas posts still be viewable if I do? Denise Love from England

Thanks Penny...I actually thought of that myself because she told me that she had saved the site in her favorites. I said "Oh, that explains it! Then just enter the URL in every time and maybe that will solve the problem..." Alas, I saw with my own two eyes that even typing in the URL didn't work. I hope that she gets her laptop soon...she's been cooking up a storm lately ;D

Sister - hope Valreid/CD gets her new laptop soon. I miss her recipes and cooking tips. Found out on her birthday that we were both born in the same year. Please say hello to her!

I was over at my mom's house when it was time for the Cara Black chat so I used her computer...luckily I was able to sign on to the chat, but the forum was acting all wacky (unless I refreshed every page it took me back to early May...very Twilight zone! My poor ma!) Anyway, I told her that maybe she could post using the refresh technique, and she just emailed me to say that she typed two LONG recipes and they were lost. She said to tell you all GRRR and that when she gets back from her trip to FL on Friday she is running out to buy her laptop!

^^ I know she is having computer probs, but one lesson I've learned very well over the years, is if you are typing long responses on any forum, type it in Word first, then copy and paste it into the forum. That way if anything goes wrong, it's more a case of shrugged shoulders and trying again rather than having the urge to throw the computer out the window.

Good one, Mez...I like it.

Mez - That's what I do when I have something long to write. There are so many distractions here - like WORK (that's one example)!!!!
Penny - I like that one.... May have to use that one of these days........
