No,,,not my birthday, that is September, but one year ago today I joined this lovely forum! I'll sign on again this afternoon with a glass of something to celebrate! A tad early now ...though a Bloody Mary may be in the mix in a bit as I continue downloading and printing a bunch of new job forms! Yes I start a new job on June 9th...finally a "real" job again..in my field and decent money and benefits! However the vacation part is not as great and I will definitely not have the 7 vacation days I will need for my September birthday trip! So....a couple years back when a storm threatened my Jan. departure for Paris I had many of you dancing, praying, and sending good karma my way...and it worked...but just barely...mine was probably one of the last flights out(for those of you not familiar this was the Jet Blue debacle storm!) That was some good karma!!! (dancing, praying, good thoughts, Paris loving spirit, etc.) So I need good karma again when I have the "Oh by the way I have a plane ticket to Paris...."chat with my new bosses!!!

Just tell the boss that you are expected to be one of the most prominent US representatives in a high-flyers international gathering . You simply CANNOT fail your French (America's new best friends) / Danish / Aussie colleagues ! Hmmm, maybe you shouldn't tell him about the Saturday evening field trip ;D ...

After reading your post, Geordy, I realized that my OPF anniversary was a few days ago. ;D As for that winter trip of yours, if I'm not mistaken, I was one of those dancers who influenced the weather so that you could travel. Therefore, I'll do everything in my power to make sure your boss practically begs you to take your September trip. Good luck on your new job!!!

Geordy, Congratulations on both your anniversary and your new job. I am sure you are excited/relieved (aside from the vacation days, that is).
For what it is worth, the vacation dilemma often comes up with my clients when they start new jobs. I have them say is that this has been a long planned trip and would it be possible to work something out? Obviously I do not know the particulars of your new office, but I've never had a client's request turned down. If I can be of any help, PM me.

Thanks all! And yes Shoesy you were definately a dancer! And that is one of the lovely benefits of this forum,,since joining I've met Shoesy when she was in NYC and Sister Europe, Happygoin , and Valreid in Paris. Holger and I chatted on the phone in Paris. And. if you all get busy...I'll meet some more in September! And aoi33... do you get people jobs? We have to have a NYC get together!

Congrats on the new job! I'm sure you'll do a splendid job that will offer to give you extra time off...Besides, you have to be there for 'our' Birthday, since I'm such a slacker in not being there myself.
KLJ - we were soooo close. I leave NY on 4th...or was it 5th of Dec heading for Boston. A big reunion would have been great.

No, Geordy, I don't get people jobs. I am a strategic coach for senior executives and while my clients don't change organizations often, when they do, I advise them on negotiating the best deal.
As to getting together, I would love it. When is good for you?

And if it works out that you girls get together when a certain Israeli poster is in New York this summer, then guess who wants to join you. ;D
