Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to say hello, and to tell you all that I've missed you all - I was out sick for 2 weeks with the flu to end all flus. I was very ill and I'm just now starting to feel human again. And I'm back at work - UGH! Anyway, I wanted to send a belated birthday wish to everyone who celebrated in my absence, send a welcome to new members, and say that I look forward to catching up on all the news 'round here. I did catch an episode of International House Hunters that focused on Paris...you KNOW that I was there in my fevered dreams ;D I need to start planning a trip soon!

:)Welcome back sistereurope, glad you have recovered. It sounds like you had the nasty bug we had end of February, it has now gone across the Atlantic. I look forward to your posts. Take it easy as it takes a while to recover:) Denise love from England

Sis - As you know I was very worried about you, and I'm really happy to see you here with us again. I hope your mom had a nice birthday last week. I guess flus can be pretty bad. My hubby too was sick a few weeks ago, and he had gotten a flu shot several months ago. A lot of good that did!

Yeah, they found that the flu shot didn't cover many of the flu strains this year! I don't wish what I had on anyone - it was bad...one night I was delirious (or so my family told me)...I was rambling and laughing and crying and they were trying to get me to drink something. I evidently didn't like any of their offerings, so my stepson said OK, how about some wine? And I evidently said "oh NO, I'm NEVER drinking THAT again"! HA! You KNOW I was ill...
OK, I am convinced that I will not fully recover until I have a trip to Paris in the works...I'll keep you posted... ;D

SisterEurope! So sorry to hear you got the dreaded flu bug! Sounds like it was truly horrid for you! (yes, I had heard "they" missed the gun this time with the flu vaccine!). At any rate, so glad you are feeling better and so glad you are back at OPF! We missed you!

That does sound bad Sis..esp. the wine comment..you are lucky you did not wind up in the ER after that!
You definitely deserve a trip to Paris! And soon... ;D
Glad to hear you are feeling better...I just thought you were off on another jaunt!

Glad to hear that you are well enough to be back at work ! You're right, the flu shot the pharmaceutical companies devised this year did NOT cover all of the flu strains. I hope you feel 100% very soon!

Yeah......that stupid flu shot didn't work on my hubby either. He was sicker than he had ever been before, but nothing compared to what poor sis went through. (However, we all know that men tend to be a bit whinier than their wives when they're sick................isn't that correct, ladies? )

I am happy o hear that you have recovered. That sounds really bad. I hears something on the news about the shots not working well this year. Hopefully, flu season is over.

Glad to see you back in touch. I was about to ask where you were.
Sorry about your bout with the bug. My flu shot must have worked , I didn't even get it when David had it in London.

Thanks again for all of your comments...and Anne, you know I could never leave OPF. I am one of the first addicts, and you never forget your first love... Oh how I wish I could join you for the September gathering! But it's almost impossible for me to get any vacation time in Sept, plus the 15th is my daughter's 16th bday... BUT...since it's also MY b'day in Sept, I have planted the seed in my husband's mind that we simply MUST make a trip sometime within the next year. He really wants to go to Beaune so we might combine that with a trip to Paris, either in Oct or June. Plus, since I turn the big 5-0 this year, my birthday wish is no secret (a trip to you know where, of course) ...you know that you all will be the first to know as soon as I figure it out... ;D Woohoo...I feel better just thinking about planning a trip, as you all can attest...sigh...

Hi Sis,
I'm sorry you had to go through that awful state, but I'm glad you are better now. I am with a flu right now too, and I have to meet a very important client tomorrow, I don't know what I'm going to do... The only year I had the flu shot, I ended up with a pneumonia! That was the first and last time I had the shot.

I know you all were concerned what had happened to sistereurope. I, as her mom, can attest to the fact she was as sick as I have ever seen her. Poor thing! I felt so bad for her. All I could do was take her some homemade soup. She was really, really sick. If this had been a few years ago she would have been in the hospital, but her doctor thought she may contact something else there and I agreed. I hope she is planning that trip to Paris with her "aging mother" in mind. Not that I am laying a guilt trip or anything like that. HA HA Since my youngest daughter just moved back to Gemany I suppose I will have to cut my next trip short to visit here. Not looking forward to going to Germany anymore after seeing Paris. No comparison! My computer is working again so I can be back in the LOOP! Lv ya SisterE

Hi Velreid! Glad that your computer is in working order. I bet that soup really helped. When my hubby had the flu last month, I cooked him a big pot of chicken soup and gave him a large portion every day. Chicken soup is supposed to be the best Jewish remedy for colds and the flu.

Best possible cure Luckymama. I'd bet you used one of your new French recipes. Hope you'll share with us what you've been cooking lately.
