So I was on one of my Paris tangents/raves with a coworker today, when they mentioned something that completely shocked me! Our accounting firm has an international partner who sometimes participates in employee exchange programs. In the past they have exchanged groups from Australia and Germany. My co-worker mentioned this and said I should see if they have any offices in Paris. Well of course I skidaddled and looked at the website: www.horwath.fr/Three offices!!! So later this week I have a planning meeting with my mentor, and I am going to see if it is possible to look into a work exchange program for a few weeks or months!! I am so excited about the possibility! I didn't even consider it when I signed with them!

How exciting, Willow!!! With your talents and your charm, I bet you get any job that you want. Hmmm.......I take it that there's no position for Tarzan in Paris.

No, Tarzan would have to stay home with the parents. He is too old and set in his ways to submit to a move like that!
But I have been daydreaming about this all day..I mean how amazing would that be!!!

Years ago on a bus tour to Mount St. Michel I met a woman from Chicago who worked for one of the big accounting firms in the USA. She was in the middle of a year long stint working in their Paris office! We stayed in touch and guess what....she met and married a French man and is still there! We meet occasionally when I'm in Paris.

Geordy is very right : my husband used to work for one of the big audit firms too, and you cannot believe the number of Americans, Canadians, etc ... who initially came on an exchange program within the firm and then met and married a French and ... stayed there for good ! Really, one could believe that they considered French-hunting as being part of the exchange ! Now THAT'S a possibility that you didn't consider when you signed with them, did you Willow ;D ?

I wish so much that you will be picked for this exchange program !! Only remember we'll want the daily reports to check if you're being a good girl !!

My Aunties and Unckes from the Board are very supportive!!!
Thank you so much!
Right now I am only in the research stage, a set program for Paris does not exist due to the lanaguage barrier, but if my manager and partner in charge cooperate with me it is something that I can do!
AS for meeting Mr.Right in Paris...<sigh> I wish!

I asked my friend if she was fluent when she first got there..she said not then and not now! She was dealing with the firm's English speaking ex-pat clients.
She is now though as she's also a Mommy! ;D

Well, I married the man of my dreams but after watching Broken English, it's easy to imagine what it would be like to fall for a Frenchman! Ladies, you must watch it. It stars Parker Posey as the lead and Melvil Poupaud as the aforementioned gorgeous Frenchman.
Willow, keep us posted!

I wonder if American Accountants working in Paris had a similar experiance as the gentleman from A Year in Merde? I love that book, but I'm not sure I'd love to live through it!

Willow what a wonderful opportunity , I hope it all works out..
My mom met my dad in Paris while she was there working as a secretary for an insurance company ( Monarch Life)... and he was very handsome and swept her off her feet,, so yes, married and then along I came,, at which point my mom decided she wanted to go "home" to be near her family to raise me.. (drats)..
Anyways, moral of story, meet a frenchman, flirt , have fun, but don't marrry him impulsively my mom married my dad only 6 months after meeting him ( no , she did not " have to" , LOL) and although I love my dad dearly,, he was a terrible womanizer in his youth, and it wasn't till his mid forties that he calmed down( and has now been with second wife for over 20 years)
So go Willow, if you get the chance, and don't worry about the language , you'll pick it up way faster then you think when you actually live there. You are young and free to go anywhere at this point in your life,, please go,, and live the adventure for us who cannot,,LOL ( little dramatic music here please)
