I have just turned on the television and 'Louis XVII - unsolved enigma' is on television, apparently there are a large group which believe that he survived the revolution and has living descendants in France. I have started to watch it but just found this scathing review www.theage.com.au/news/tv-reviews/louis-xvii-unsolved-enigma/2008/05/01/1209235040214.html which makes me think it may not be the best way to spend a Friday night when I am meant to be studying! At the very least there is some nice pictures of France and I can brush up on my French Has anyone heard much about this line of thinking before?

Oh this article is much fun ! They are very sarcastic about "historian Stephane Bern", whose way of thinking is not academic enough for their taste . Well, sure it isn't ! "Professor" Stéphane Bern is not an historian, not even an academic, he is a TV présentateur (host ?) who used to be THE specialist of the Gotha and jet-set world for more years than I can remember, and who now seems to be changing bracket and has shows on more intellectual subjects like History . No wonder that he prefers "mystery and imagination" to "historical truth" ;D ;D !
