Is any one familiar with a magic museum in Paris, called (I believe) Musee de la Curiosite et de la Magic?
I have seen mention of it in one guide book and it sounds kind of interesting for the kids. I'm wondering if there would be any English translations, and if it would be worth our precious time?

As I recall, it's located in one of the prettier of the covered passages. It's not the sort of place where I've seen lines of French schoolchrildren waiting, so my supposition is that it really is more of a tourist trap. There's an awful lot to see in Paris, and I'd have to say that this particular attraction would be WAAAY down my list. For something similar, I've heard that many people really enjoy the circus/carrousel museum in Bercy.

I think it is in the Marais? We went once...it is inexpensive and small..wouldn't take much of your time if you are planning to be in the area anyway...but I would not make a special trip. Mostly French families when we were there.
I found it charming but I like that kind of stuff..
Limited opening times..I think they do children's birthday parties there too.
The one in Bercy, old amusement park type stuff is really special but also limited openings..I believe it is by reservation..we went during the Patrimony weekend last September.

Goldenmama, The Musée de la Magie in the Marais is at 11, rue Saint Paul. It has subterranean rooms that trace the history of modern magic as begun by the 19th century illusionist Robert Houdin for whom Houdini named himself. Its French language website indicates it's open on Wed, Sat and Sun from 2 - 7 PM. www.museedelamagie.comJo

For your info: I was there in 2003 with my son (then just turned 16) - and although the museum has its own quirky charm, it is mostly for small children (up to 12 years, I'd say).
There was a performance with a magician for the kids, when we were there - in a minuscule "theatre".
If you are not really "into" the craft af magic, adults will find it a bit uninteresting, IMO.
Not a "must-see" in any way.
